"Sherpa lite" - the core sequence manipulation functionality of Sherpa is now being released as freeware.
In the process of rebuilding Sherpa in a new framework I decided to release a version of Sherpa without the MS/MS or LC/MS interpretation methods but with the mass, digest, CID fragment calculation, pI, and extinction coefficient functionality. A new full version of Sherpa will follow in several months and will remain a commercial product.

NOTE: Also please take note that I have a new email address: jataylor@nwlink.com

Versions of Sherpa prior to Sherpa 3.2 ß9 are incompatible with the recently released MacOS 8.5.
This was apparently caused by code in the GUI builder used to create text fields > 32K. I was able to patch this problem in the most recent beta version (ß9) by replacing all text fields with 32K-limited versions; not an optimal solution but all I can manage within the current GUI framework. I am currently working busily on moving Sherpa to a more powerful framework that will be fully compatible with OS 8.5 and future versions of the OS.
